Is a Conservation Easement Right for You?

How painful is the process and what will it cost?

Placing a perpetual Conservation Easement on your property is a big decision.  Fortunately, once you make the decision to conserve your land, the process of creating and managing a Conservation Easement is not that scary and the up front costs are typically manageable.  Check out Creating A New Conservation Easement:  Check out Path to Conservation to get the details.

Who should consider making the decision to conserve?

Different people decide to conserve their land for different reasons.  Do you need to realize some of the value of your land while preserving it for your children and grandchildren?  Are you a Landowner wanting to help protect open lands, wildlife habitat and scenic vistas for the benefit of future generations?  Do you agree that preserving working lands on family outfits is a critical key to preserving our rich rural western Colorado heritage?  If you said yes to any (or hopefully all) of these questions, then YES, a Conservation Easement is probably right for you!

Can You Live With A Conservation Easement?
No Problem - its called “Stewardship”!

What will your life be like after you place a Conservation Easement on your land?  You are gonna love it.  BCRLT will be in touch with you once a year to help make sure that everything is going well and all of the conservation values continue to be protected.  We will visit your property and answer what ever questions you might have.  The important thing to remember is that the relationship is between the Landowner and BCRLT only.  It will not involve the general public or the government.  Learn more about stewardship on our Stewardship pages.
