Accreditation
BCRLT is certified by the State of Colorado and accredited by the Land Trust Alliance.
Land Trust Alliance Accreditation
The national Land Trust Alliance has established an accreditation procedure for land trusts holding conservation easements in the United States. Of roughly 1,700 land trusts across the nation, only around 317 have achieved LTA Accreditation. BCRLT is one of them. We were one of the first receiving full accreditation back in 2009.
LTA established an accreditation program for land trusts as the result of the rapid growth in the number of land trusts across the country and the lack of any clear way to ensure accountability in the work that was being done. Accreditation of land trusts is meant to bring these organizations to a level of professionalism and quality of work that provides landowners and the public the confidence in conservation work and land trust operations necessary to allow us to continue our work and mission.
In 2007, BCRLT jumped at the opportunity to apply for accreditation through LTA. Through the course of a two-year process BCRLT was granted accreditation in March of 2009. Maintaining those high standards of policy, procedure and principle that were necessary to achieve our original accreditation - BCRLT received accreditation renewal in August 2015.
