Join us for Happy Hour on Thursday August 20th - Field Club style! Black Canyon Regional Land Trust, in partnership with the West Region Wildfire Council and Colorado State Forest Service, will host an early evening educational outing at the Fick-Montgomery conservation property as part of the BCRLT summer “Field Club” series. The 140-acre parcel sits atop Log Hill Mesa, boasting expansive views of the Sneffles wilderness and scenic valley below. Expert forester Austin Shelby (CSFS) and wildfire mitigation specialist Jamie Gomez (WRWC) will talk about how to spot signs of a healthy or unhealthy forest and give an introduction to the role of wildfire and fire mitigation on Log Hill Mesa. Alecia Phillips (BCRLT) will provide a brief overview of private land conservation in Ouray County and how conservation of the Fick-Montgomery parcels benefits the areas’ wildlife and human residents. Beers, brats and other refreshments provided by Jay and Kathy Montgomery & BCRLT!
