Roubideau Rim Wildlife Rescue Seeking Donation of Land for New Home
Roubideau Rim Wildlife Rescue (RRWR) is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer wildlife rehabilitation center that provides care for sick, injured, orphaned and habituated wildlife for release back into appropriate habitats. Currently located outside Olathe 6 miles from the nearest paved road, RRWR is seeking a donation of land to build a new long-term home. The current location is too remote for volunteers to easily access, and cannot accommodate needed rehabilitation facilities.
BCRLT is working with RRWR to help announce this special conservation opportunity and to offer assistance to anyone interested in learning more about the significant state and federal tax benefits available for such a conservation donation.
RRWR is seeking a parcel of land that:
- Has year-round access
- Is located in Delta, Montrose, Ouray or San Miguel County - with a first choice of Delta County
- Is adjacent to BLM or Forest Service lands (for soft releases of wildlife)
- Is 10 or more acres - however, for those interested in conservation donation tax incentives, a donation of at least 40 acres is recommended
And can accommodate the following structures:
- Indoor and outdoor caging for numerous species of wildlife
- Education center for outreach programs to schools, community groups, training for future licensed wildlife rehabilitators and veterinarians wishing to gain experience with wildlife
- On-site housing for the rehabbers, as young and injured wildlife require round-the-clock care and rescue phone calls can take place any time of day or night
